How It Works
Start the Check
US-resident sitters can go to Settings → Verification and start a background check.
Pay the Fee
Review the current price and pay through Stripe before the order is placed.
Complete the Certn Form
Follow the Certn invitation to provide the requested information and consent to screening.
Wait for Results
Most checks complete within 1-3 business days. Complex checks may take up to 5 business days.
View Your Results
Once complete, you'll receive an email notification. Your verification status will update on your profile.
Your Privacy is Protected

How much does a background check cost?
The current price is shown before checkout. New checks are currently available only to US-resident sitters.
Who performs the background check?
We partner with Certn, a trusted background check provider. They handle all personal data according to strict privacy standards.
Is the fee refundable?
No. The background check fee is non-refundable as the check is processed immediately by our third-party partner.
How long is the check valid?
Background checks are valid for 2 years. After that, you can renew by completing a new check.
What happens if something is found?
Minor issues don't necessarily disqualify you. We review each case individually. Serious offenses may affect your ability to use the platform.
Is my data kept private?
Only the verification status is shared with other members. Certn and authorized SitterRight staff may access detailed results to process and review your check.
Can I use a background check from another service?
No. For consistency and security, we only accept checks performed through our Certn partnership.
Is a background check required?
It is optional unless you apply to a US sit whose host requires it. International sits cannot require a background check. Existing completed checks can still appear on profiles worldwide.
